Meditation, yoga and controlled diet are foundational to any successful anti-aging
program. Science has already demonstrated that intensive or prolonged mind-body therapies have many healthy beneficial effects on the well-being of patients and healthy people alike.
But is there a definitive marker that measures the effect of mind-body therapies? The answer is yes.
Telomerase protection is key to longevity. A recent study measured the effect of an intensive mind-body therapy on telomerase activity and stem cells in blood collected from the participants. Blood samples of telomerase were measured before and after the intensive mind-body therapy
The results are astounding.
Telomerase activity was greater in mind-body therapy participants. About 45% of people showed more than one-fold increase of telomerase activity . And, about 27% of people showed more a pronounced effect – a two-old increase in telomerase activity after the mind-body therapy.
Also, a substantial percentage of people (about 90%) exhibited increased stem cell counts after the mind-body therapy.
I can only draw one conclusion: Meditation and mind-body therapy should be an integral part of any anti-aging program. As the data from the mind-body therapy showed, participants showed blood level increases in telomerase activity that may lead to increased longevity and better quality of life at latter age.
